Last Saturday, 26th February 2011, We made a Special Trip to Sadong Jaya to visit some project sites. That was the first time I reached Sadong Jaya. It took more or less one and the half hour to reach Sadong Jaya from Kuching by crossing the river. There were five of us, myself, Mejar (R) Othman, Awang Hassan, Nik and Linda set our journey to Sadong Jaya on that day.
Along the road, we could see lots of padi field next to the road sides, with some ROZEL Fruit trees, corns, even chillies planted along the road to Sadong Jaya as if we are driving on the road between two padi fields.
All greens scenery accompanied us along the way. For me such wonderful views are seldom being seen in other part of Kuching nowadays except areas where agricultural remains as the major income contributor to its people. The first site we reached was Kpg Semera Masjid. A nice and quite place even there were many houses side by side next to the main road but we found less people walking or making activities within their house compounds. A very hot weather condition brought us to meet few Ketua Kampungs for some chit chat and had their views on certain projects
Unlike most village in Kuching, Kpg Sadong Jaya is far from massive development where majority of its people stayed as fishermen and farmers for a living. Being part of YB Nancy Shukri Parlimentary area, this Kampung had termendously received a lot of federal funding. Better roads and culverts even there were some part of the infrastructures need to be improved but we anticipated that in the next future to come this place will be better equipped with facilities. Once government MODERNISATION PROGRAM reached this area, I believe Sadong Jaya will become one of the major economic contributor in agro based industry in Sarawak.....
While we are on the way to Kpg Sg Boi, another village located within this political booundary, we dropped by at small township at PENDAM area to have our lunch. Major (R) Othman who led us in this trip were busy calling his friends to inform them on his team arrival... Thanks to him for that.!!!This is the great moment for me to try a famous NASI PULUT made by BUGIS COMMUNITY which is called BURISAK..
I think this type of food can only be available here where BUGIS People resided. The taste is very nice with some aromatic fragrance. I don know how to explain the taste but I suggest you guys try yourself. Just come to Sadong Jaya / Pendam and give it a try!...
Even their PULUT also bigger than those we normally seen in Sibu and the one we ate in Sadong Jaya was less oily compared with Pulut Panggang. Some said it a Pulut Rebus but its pretty amazing to try the taste of boiled Pulut Panggang. Once we completed our site visits to both villages, we set home at 3.00pm and I paid some moment to take photos of SMK PESANTREN ABDUL TAIB MAHMUD, one of the prestigous religous school in Sadong Jaya.
